Clay Sculpture Self Portrait

Finally! Here is the last of a long line of terra cotta clay projects! For this bust of "Your's Truly" I decided to make a goofy smirk and stylize the hair a little. I really enjoyed this project, and working with clay in general, but I'll be glad to get back to the old stylus pen again. I've learned alot working with 3D forms in general, and hope to carry this knowledge over to my digital painting, and perhaps 3D modeling in the computer as well!

Clay Armadillo

Probably one of the coolest animals on this planet. Modeled this guy after a stuffed one from the college museum. Originally I intended to sculpt a turtle, but this guy had such an intricate shell design I just couldn't pass it up. Plus, ever since I was four years old I've always had this desire to go to Australia.

Projects from an intro to handforming clay course: ocarina flute pinch project and vase coil project. These were made using terra cotta clay fired with glaze.

Rotoscope Animation

Here is a rotoscope animation I did for a school project. I chose to do something that imitated the old spy and cop serials from the 60s and 70s. The music is from the "Dirty Harry Theme" by Lalo Schifrin. I had a lot of fun animating in this style, might try this again soon. Enjoy!

Old Is New Again

So I went digging through all my old sketches an doodles and came across a couple of winners. I thought, "You know, if these had some touchup work they could look really awesome!" So I made a few copies and grabbed my Prismacolor markers. Here are the first two-- more on the way soon!

Dinosaur Flip Book Animation

Here is an animation done for a class project. It's a small part of a much larger sequence of animations. Each student was given the same frame of this "leaf-shaped line" and asked to animate it and then bring it back to that original frame. After all the animations were finished we put them together and each animation seemed to blend into the next one. Here is my segment of that animation reel-- and if you haven't noticed by now, I LOVE drawing dinosaurs (more of them to come as well). Enjoy!

More Charcoal Drawings

Some more charcoal drawings. The first one is a copy of a photograph taken by Neil Armstrong of his colleague Buzz Aldrin during the 1969 US Moon Landing. I really impressed myself with this one!

Charcoal Animal Studies

Here are some animal studies I did in Drawing I. There were tons of beautifully preserved creatures, and I think I picked the best four: a baby alligator, blowfish, scorpion claws, and a magnificent blue butterfly.

Paintings

Well, this self-portrait turned out better than I anticipated! I'm starting to miss my long hair. The painting of the limp arm is a copy of an Alex Kanevsky (of whom I had the pleasure of displaying to when he visited my college!). You can check out more of his work here.
